A member asked:

My husband was diagnosed with bullous pemphagoid earlier this year. due to the nature of the disease is the flu shot something to be avoided? thank u

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: If he is on medication that lowers body immunity (disease fighting capacity) like steroid or methotrexate etc he should avoid the live influenza vaccine that is given as nasal spray. For injectable flu shot there is no problem. In fact he should take it because for him we wanted to avoid any other intercurrent illness.
