A member asked:

My 12 year old cousin started her periods in 2012, in december 2013 and this month she had them twice a month, is this normal for her?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Keep a diary...: To determine if she is regular, she should keep track of her periods. Then she can count the days between first day to first day and see how long her cycle is. Other factors, such as hormones, diet, exercise, stress & anxiety can all affect regularity. Normally in takes about 2 years from onset for periods to become regular. If there are any concerns, see her doctor.
