Thyroid tests: Without knowing what specific test was "low", it is hard to comment. If your TSH was low, that would imply hyperthyroidism, and you may expect the FT4 to be high. If your FT4 was low, then the TSH should be high. Stick with your doc has (s)he tries to figure it out, but you may need a specialist. Autoimmune thyroid disease (eg Hashimotos or Graves) in the early stages can be confusing.
