Why would a hyperintensity occur in the subcortical region if the brain on an mri?

MRI finding: These are a very common findings. They can be the source of concern to patients when reading their MRI report. However, most doctors do not assign any significance to them unless there are a large number, or in the setting of multiple sclerosis. You can contact the doctor who ordered the MRI for more info, but suspect they will relay there is no reason for concern.
