How can you find out if you had an early miscarriage if the pregnancy test came back negative?

No way: Without a positive pregnancy test or ultrasound showing a pregnancy prior to the suspected miscarriage. There is no way to confirm whether it was a miscarriage or a late period.

You can't: If all the pregnancy tests done were negative, there is no way to know. If the pregnancy tests were done around the time of expected menstrual period and came back negative, there was likely never a pregnancy to begin with.
