A member asked:

I had an hiv test and noticed that my blood got exposed to air .will the air kill the hiv antibodies ( as in case of hiv virus ) and affect the result?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: The antibodies are not living so no it will not. Usually blood is collected in test tubes where a vacuum (no air) is what causes the blood to go into the tube, but there is always a little bit of air within the needle bore but of no consequence.
