Gastritis/ulcer: increased acidity can irritate the gastric lining and cause inflammation and pain that is calmed by food. I recommend avoiding high acid foods(citrus, tomato juice,coffee, alcohol ),avoid smoking, eat small portions more often, and try OTC Prilosec or Nexium (esomeprazole). If not better, see your PCP for further testing.( H. Pylori testing , EGD )
