A member asked:

Does the hsg unblocking occur during the procedure or in time?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Great question: There are 2 theories as to how an HSG can unblock the tube. One is that the actual contrast dye being forced through 'unblocks' the tube due to a mechanical pushing, if you will, or breakage of a scar tissue. Another idea, is that the contents of the dye help to serve as a bacteriacidal.... meaning that the contrast helps to 'clean' the tube, as it were, making it more hospitable for pregnancy
