Need to ask her doc: How you hear a heart beat depends on where on her chest you place a stethoscope. If a single heart beat is heard and heart murmur is heard, she may have a disease or defect in a heart valve. She needs to be examined by her doctor, who will have more experience in listening to hearts.

Schedule an exam: The first thing to do in this situation is to have her doctor listen to her heart. Her exam will determine what type of testing is required if any. If she is having other symptoms, particularly chest pain or trouble breathing, she will need to be seen urgently. Diabetes raises your risk of serious heart disease, so do not take this lightly.

Heart sounds: 1st sound is closing of mitral (lets blood into chamber pumping into body)& tricuspid(lets blood into chamber pumping into lungs)valves.2nd sound is closing of valve letting blood into lungs, and valve letting blood into body. If a valve is louder or quieter than the others (for a number of reasons), may hear a single "dub" rather usual "lub-dub." Clinic evaluation will tell if important or not.
