R.I.C.E.: Try ice and elevation first. 20 minutes on, 30-40 minutes off. Keep the foot above the heart. It is a natural way to stop swelling by constricting the blood vessels and allowing fluid to drain back to the heart via gravity. Sounds line a possible knee effusion that could need drainage. If ice doesn't improve your swelling, go see your regular doctor or orthopedist. Good luck!
