Tongue pain: Your child may have a viral illness. You can give her cold things to kill the pain as well as ibuprofen for pain

Sore tongue: Sometimes it is hard for a 6 year old to localize pain. It sounds like the onset was sudden? Was there any injury that could have involved other structures in her mouth? If she is breathing and swallowing OK see if you can get more information. If she continues to cry with pain, she will need to be assessed. If there is any breathing or swallowing troubles sooner.
