Could be carrier: Herpes doesn't always cause sores. HSV 1 is oral about 60% of the time and this says you have the virus but does not say where. HSV 2 is genital about 60% of the time. The HSV 2 tends to recur more frequently. Neither of these is a reason not to have sex if you have never had an out break but there will be a chance (only a chance) that a partner will get it. 1/5 of Americans are positive for HSV.

Sores on penis back in August, in-person GP check reassured me not HSV as did 2nd online doctor after I shown him pictures of sores. STD clinic PCR swab came back with HSV-1. No outbreak since. Do I trust the PCR swab diagnosis or the 2 initial docs?
I had two blisters show up on my tail bone, this is the second time in 6 months. My doctor popped them and tested them for hsv, and i was positive for hsv2, i have only had one partner, he has tested negative. Is it possible that the test was wrong?
Really confused: most docs say HSV 1&2 can be detected in blood (igg) in 6-8 weeks. A few say more time is needed. Why different answers? What is it?
