Have there been any cases of alcohol withdrawals lasting months?

No: Alcohol withdrawal does not last months. Regretfully, however, the effects of alcoholism can leave lasting injury to the brain, nerves, and liver--some of which do not recover or recovery incompletely. Alcohol withdrawal can also last longer than expected if the patient does not fully cease alcohol use--and thus has repeated bouts of withdrawal each time they cut back use. See your MD.
