Dark brown honey: believe it or not, when compared to Robitussin DM (guaifenesin and dextromethorphan) and Delsym/Mucinex-is equally effective and very safe: yes: grandma was right: tea and honey ( with or without a shot of Jack Daniels-adults only, will help suppress a cough ( or make you forget you ever had one) The other products are viable alternatives.

Cold remedies..: There are multiple over the counter medications you can take( Robitussin (guaifenesin) for example), however it all depends if you suffer of any chronic diseases. If you suffer of hypertension or diabetes for example is advisable to consult with your doctor. Honey helps with cough and congestion as well w/out the risks of the others unless you are diabetic. For a cold, rest and plenty of fluids is important.
