Easy: An in office flexible fiberoptic laryngoscopy is a simple well tolerated procedure. Some otolaryngologists use an anesthetic topical medication and topical decongestant prior to inserting this spaghetti like scope through the nose for visualization of the throat, including the pharynx and larynx (voice box). Everyone is different however, so some gagging may be expected.
