Until clear: C-diff is not very contagious if one follows routine hygiened measures by washing hands with soap and water ( the sanitizing gel won't do the job). However until the diarrhea has cleared completely, one should assume that it remains contagious until proven otherwise. If the mushy stool is not what you usually have, then it can still be considered diarrhea.
