What is the cause of bright shining light at the corner of my eye?

Flashback!!: Flashes and floaters can happen for no apparent reason, you'll get a few then they go away never to return. But they can also mean a problem in the inner lining of your eyes (your retina) so if you get more and they worsen you should get your eyes examined to make sure they are OK. Do you use reading glasses? One more reason to do so.

Flashes?: Are you seeing flashes in your eye? If so you may have a retinal detachment or tear. This is an emergency and needs to be seen immediately. Here is more info to help. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/retinal-detachment/basics/symptoms/con-20022595
