There are many types: Many types of irregular heart beats exist. Normal heart beat starts in right atrium ("top" chamber") moves to crux of the heart, and then spreads to lower, pumping chambers (ventricles). Irregular beats can originate in the atria or ventricles. Taking breaths influences heart rate as well for many factors. Interpreting irregular heart beats requires a full history and exam by a doctor.
