What is the difference between family medicine, internal medicine and general practice residency ?

Family medicine etc.: Family medicine encompasses pediatrics ob/gyn and adult medicine. Internal medicine is medicine for adults. General practice less specialized training.

Family practice: Family practice treats newborn to elderly, get training in all fields, surgery to psych and everything in between . Philosophy is to treat patient as a whole not an illness or disease. Focus often strongly on prevention.

Few: Fm will do peds, OB and more outpatient clinic hours. They ahve to see 160 patients before graduating. Im does more in hospital work and ice time. No OB or peds requirement.
