Sympathetic block: can help. Management of SMP may involve a series of sympathetic blocks leading to down- regulation of adrenoreceptors, thereby inducing long-term elimination of SMP. In cases of SMP that are refractory to sympathetic blocks, a surgical sympathectomy may be recommended.
