A member asked:

Is there a difference between a scabies itch, and an after scabies treatment itch? or are they both just as severe?

Itching from scabies: The pruritus or itching which comes from scabies can be intense even after treatment has been given. If you are having itching from the treatment this can be because of skin irritation if you had the cream or an allergy. You may have an additional rash in addition to the rash from the scabies infection. If the itching becomes worse consult with your health care provider.

Tough to treat: Scabies are tough to treat. Sometimes it takes 2-3 treatments to fully kill the mites. If you are still having the symptoms you may need an additional treatment.

Much the same: When you've been treated, you may still have itching from the dead eggs/mites in your skin. But that should go away fairly quickly. But the itch could be similar!
