Signs are what: the doctor observes and symptoms are what you report. Yes, it is possible to have an anxiety disorder w/out being conscious of it. Your doc or people in your life may be giving you feedback as to the signs you are presenting to them. Your comfort and ability to function are good measuring rods. Symptoms of anxiety: can increase over their baseline - especially when facing stressors. You don't have to feel constantly anxious to have an anxiety disorder.
