Common: If this is your first period, your body is just learning how to do this and it is common that it would not be completely normal. Periods can be annovulatory for up to the first 2 years. It takes a lot of co-ordination to have normal ovulatory cycles. It's kind of like falling down a lot when you first learn to walk. It takes awhile but almost everyone learns.
