If kidney stones: cause pain, it is typically flank or back pain. Gallbladder pain is typically right upper quadrant abdominal pain.

In back usually : Kidney stones feel kick a horse kicked you in your lower back. Usually one side or the other. There is minimal front in front, so a bit different than gallstones.
