About how long does it take for an antibiotic for a uti to kick in? do i keep taking the meds until the burning sensation is gone?

24-48 hours: It usually takes 24-48 for an antibiotic to start to resolve the symptoms of a urinary tract infection. You should take the antibiotic for the full course that is prescribed, not only till the burning sensation is gone. Otherwise the bacteria will not be fully killed and the infection may continue or return. If you are not improving, you should contact your doctor.

About 48 hours: If you're on the right antibiotic, the bacteria that caused your UTI should be eradicated by now. However the injury to the delicate inner lining of the bladder and urethra might take longer to heal, If your symptoms persist more than five days or if you get new symptoms like fever, back pain or nausea, you need to get back in touch with your doctor.
