If no fever: she could try alkaseltzer cold plus - make sure it is the dissolving tablets not the capsules. it won't get rid of the cold but it should help w/the symptoms at least. a hot bath or shower, might help her feel better as well

Respiratory virus: Decongestants and saline rinses will help with her symptoms. Unfortunately there are no quick fixes for viral infections. Good luck and I hope she feels better.
