Usually painless.: Most patients who have a colonoscopy these days have sedation administered prior to the start of the procedure, which allows it to be a mostly pain-free procedure. It is often true that patients have a lot of gas immediately after the procedure, but this does not usually cause pain after it is passed. Be sure that you have a driver to take you home after the procedure.
