Possibly: The Skyla IUD can alter bleeding and cause many bleeding patterns including spotting and irregular and/or heavy bleeding. This is particularly true during the first 3 to 6 months of use. Bleeding usually decreases after this but may remain irregular. However, in trials, fewer than 5% of Skylar users stopped using it due to bleeding complaints.
