As long as the water: is not contaminated, and you are not wearing contact lenses! You can wear goggles, or prescription goggles, or no goggles. The salinity of the ocean should not harm the eyes. Do not go into the water after heavy rains, or when there's contaminated runoff from the city waters into the ocean, as often raw sewage is dumped into the ocean by many countries, cities. Protect your health first!
