Ibuprofen: Hi Chis, This side effect is common after a cleaning like that. I find Ibuprofen is a helpful comfort measure, and you can dose it according to the package instructions. Usually the pain doesn't last long. If it isn't getting better by tonight or you have any concerns, I'd get in touch with your doctor's office. Good luck, I hope she feels better!

Recheck for injury: If she is still having pain after wax removal, a recheck by her Pediatrician or at an Urgent Care center would be a good idea. Potential complications of ear wax removal can include irritation or actual puncture of the eardrum, as well as inflammation of the ear canal. Contact your doctor, and give her some Tylenol (acetaminophen). Do not allow water or use ear drops in the affected ear at this time.

Try tylenol (acetaminophen): May try Tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen however if no improvement with pain meds then have your pediatrician or ENT doctor to recheck the ear canals
