Intestinal worms: Baylisascarias is a kind of round worm found in Raccoons. Human get it from pets who have eaten contaminated food infected by Raccoon feces. Stool examination for the round worm parasite for diagnosis. Treatment is difficult. Usual anthelmetic drugs do not rid the body of the worm which could spread to the lungs and brain as well.

Animal roundworms: Baylisascaris is a group of animal roundworms which sometimes can cause problems for humans. Usually there has to be some sort of animal exposure -most often animal poop, since these worms infect the GI tract and produce eggs that can be found there. If there's any questions about exposure, the right type of doctor to see is an ID doctor. Hope your primary doc can send you in the right direction.
