What can cause a seizure in a baby?

Brain electricity: Seizures are caused by abnormal electrical signals in the brain. There can be many different causes of this in a baby. Some are benign, such as a rapidly rising fever. Other causes include a brain abnormality present at birth, bleeding in the brain, or deprivation of oxygen for a period of time. Epilepsy is a primary disorder of abnormal electrical activity. Neurologists specialize in this.
