I had a compound break in my right tibia 2.5 years ago. i had a titanium rod put in. since then, i've had almost constant pain in that knee?

The first thing: I would recommend is follow up with an orthopedic surgeon. An adjunct to conventional care by an orthopod could be acupuncture. The tissue surround rods & plates is often inflammed. Acupuncture can reduce inflammation and pain. People can be amazed with the results. Take care.

Check Position: You should get an xray and check the position of the rod. They can sometimes migrate too close to the joint.

Trauma: Your leg has been through a lot of trauma with the break followed by a big surgery. this kind of trauma can change your joint for life. However, you should not continue to have it evaluated to see if you would benefit from removal of the rod or other therapies. Get in to see your orthopedic surgeon.
