Myoglobin: Commonly used acute phase reactants include: ESR (erythrocyte sediment rate), fibrinogen, C-reactive proteing, and ferritin. With regard to myoglobin, it found only in skeletal and cardiac muscle and is typically released during skeletal or cardiac muscle injury. Common processes that involve muscle injury include myocardial infarction (heart attack), rhabdomyolysis, and muscle trauma.

Mostly Muscle Relate: but can have other indirect causes such a low potassium, Fever, with sepsis, trauma, blood clots to the lungs or in the vessels, certain drugs and snake bites to name a few.
