Etiology unknown: Dyshidrotic eczema usually occurs on the palms and soles. We don't know why some people are at risk. But there are identifiable triggers. These include recurrent exposure to chemical or mechanical irritants like frequent hand scrubbing or washing, as well as irritating chemicals and certain allergenic metals like nickel. Steroid creams & avoiding irritants are the first choice treatments.
