A member asked:

Can watching television for long periods cause myopia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe, maybe not: It is believed that a person who spends a lot of time looking at objects (tv screens, computer screens, books, etc.) at close distances puts pressure on his eyeballs due to the actions of the eye muscles during close-up focusing, thus changing the shape of the eyeballs and causing myopia. This idea has not been proven, but could be true. Keeping an 8-10 foot distance from the tv should be safer.
