Very rarely: Untreated TMJ Dysfunction may never get better by itself, proper diagnosis to determine the cause is a must. Although treatment can not cure TMD completely, It will help manage the symptoms and provide a great deal of relief. TMD can stay for a life time or start tapering off after a while. In rare instances it may improve without treatment but this is the exception.
