Could take a while: Once you have been on the depo-provera shot it can take up to a year for your periods to return to normal. Getting on birth control pills may help regulate your period to a normal cycle, but if you are on the pills for only a few months, then when you stop periods may still be irregular for up to a year after you stop the depo.
