Get the test: Most TAH patients receive IV antibiotics which can predispose you to a c. difficile infection. C. diff is a bacteria that that lives in the gut and because it has a capsule around it, a sort of bacterial bullet proof vest, it can resist many antibiotics. When the antibiotics kill off competing bacteria it thrives and secretes a toxin that causes severe diarrhea. I suggest you get tested.
