Can you still be healthy with a 12.9 hemaglobin level for a male?

Find why: You'll feel okay but you want to get checked for some cause of a mild anemia -- especially occult blood loss. At your age, it's stomach or colon cancer that need to be ruled out, along with ulcer, hookworm, etc. Best wishes.

Relatively normal: According to the US National Library of Medicine, the normal range adult male hemoglobin is 13.8-17.2 g/dl. Hemoglobin is only one indicator of overall health and by itself does not define good or bad health. It is a measure of how efficiently red blood cells can carry oxygen for cellular metabolism to occur. A slightly low may indicate some mild anemia that proper diet can correct.
