Yes: Infection may be resistant to the antibiotic.Urine culture will reveal that.If the urine culture shows no infection,there are medications that your doctor can prescribe to treat your urgency and the painful urination.I suggest you return to the doctor with your symptoms. Best wishes.

How long on antibiot: Not unusual to remain symptomatic for up to couple of days after starting antibiotics. However should not last longer. Check 2C if urine culture was done to identify causative bacteria + antibiotic sensitivities. Because your UTI could be due to resistant organism. In which case U would need to switch antibiotics. Need to get urine culture with sensitivities it it wasn't done before
