Conjuctivitis: Most episodes of conjunctivitis are viral so antibiotic drops are not going to help. The problem is we as doctors can't tell the difference between bacterial and viral conjunctivitis so we tend to treat everyone with eyedrops. Sometimes the eyes actually get worse with the eye drops. If baby is worse, especially if there now is redness around the eyes, eyelids and a fever take baby in now.
