Hyperreactve airways: People who have hyper-reactive bronchioles can have bronchospasm. This is the same basically as asthma. The differences are what triggers the smooth muscle in the bronchioles to spasm. It can be diagnosed by your PCP or by a pulmonary specialist. Generally speaking it is treated with bronchodilators and/or inhaled steroids.

See Your Doctor: 17 yrs old, "bronchospasm" is a term for reactive airways triggered by respiratory infections, allergies, exercise. The airways constrict, resulting symptoms are cough, wheezing, shortness of breath. Repeated attacks lead to the diagnosis of Asthma & can be life-threatnening.
