Behav therapy: Your son may need behavior therapy as well as medication to overcome this food aversion. Some occupational therapists also work with oral aversion problems. Check with your doctor.

Rule out dental: There are other atypical antipsychotics to try like Abilify (aripiprazole) and Seroquel. Treatments for anxiety disorders like zoloft may also help. Has a psychiatrist evaluated him and recommended psychotherapy? I don't know how severe his ASD is, some are mild. Is there a reason he might be afraid of choking? Can he talk and tell you he is afraid of choking? If not, perhaps he has tooth decay causing pain.
