Unlikely the cause: Discs are the cushions between the vertebrae of the spine and with trauma or aging, the gel center of the disc can protrude, causing it to collapse and put pressure on the spinal canal and cord and nerves and sciatica. It is rare to have this in early childhood, but has been seen in young adults who participate in active sports. Spondylolithisis can occur at L5-S1 but usuallly causes back pain
