Iodine 131 uses: Major uses include the treatment of thyrotoxicosis (hyperthyroidism due to graves disease), sometimes hyperactive thyroid nodules (abnormally active thyroid tissue that is not malignant), & some types of thyroid cancer that absorb iodine.
