EEg is gold standard: EEG is the gold standard for diagnosing epilepsy. sometimes a regular EEG doesn't pick up the seizure focus, and a more prolonged EEG has to be done, such as a 24 hour ambulatory EEG in which you go home with it on so that your brain activity can be monitored for 24 hours. This increases the chance of catching the seizure. Pet scans can pick up seizures, but they are not yet approved for this.

EEG: The EEG is the best way to diagnose epilepsy. Seizures can be generated in the temporal lobe where some memory functions are located. Thanks for your question!!
