The only way i can think of to explain this is it looks like an eraser was ran across the lower part of my areola. no pain/bumps. what could it be?

Some ideas: Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health, Dermatologic conditions are hard to evaluate without seeing them in person. and .. local inflammation from a yeast infection, the early stages of a bacterial infection, allergic reaction to something that was only applied there, local irritation from a bra are some ideas.

Not enough info: ?allergic reaction ?minor abrasion or bruise Any change in soap. detergent. lotion, perfume? Are you breastfeeding? Any other contact to your breast? New or different bra or other clothing? More information is needed to try to help you.

Color change: sounds like you have an area around your nipple that has changed color. It may be due to a condition called tinea versicolor which causes lighter spots on your skin; it can be treated sometimes with OTC selsun blue shampoo. However other conditions can cause lightening of the skin (medicines, lotions/creams). If it does not go away in a few weeks you can see your doctor about it.
