I'm 14 weeks pregnant. i was in my garage for 5-10 minutes and it smelled of gasoline the entire time. will this affect my fetus?

No: That short exposure time is not likely to cause damage to your fetus. Gasoline has a very strong smell so it takes fewer molecules to trigger your sense of smell so you know it is present a a lower, safer concentration and your overall exposure is low.

It shouldn't.: Smelling gasoline alone should not affect your fetus, smelling the fumes from the exhaust for extended periods of time can affect the fetus, the effects however can vary based on the age of the fetus.

Gasoline: It is not a good idea in pregnancy to inhale fumes. It appears that exposure was short term and do think that your baby was armed. But you should report this exposure your GYN and not let this happen again to protect the health of your unborn child
