Hiatal hernia: It sounds like you may have a hiatal hernia which is a protrusion of your stomach into your esophagus. There is leakage of acidic gastric juice into your esophagus causing irritation. There are other causes of gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD. You should see a stomach specialist had have a scope placed into your stomach to find the cause. If untreated you could develop scarring.
